General Questions

  1. Please tell me more about these children's materials.

My Bible First was started to help parents establish daily family worships. Many parents want to have family worship, but just don't know what to do. The lessons are written to help parents teach their children to love Jesus, and devote their lives in service to Him while still at a young age. Children can understand the plan of salvation and the great controversy theme. That's why all our Bible lessons tell the Bible stories in the order that they happened. Each week's lesson builds on what was learned the previous week. It really helps children to understand how God has been working in history, and the consequences of choices. This approach really makes sense to children, and helps them put all the "pieces" together.

The thought questions help apply the Bible stories to every-day life, and help children understand the importance of their daily choices, and how they can choose to serve Jesus. The Bible references are highlighted throughout, to encourage children to study the Bible itself, not just learn what someone has written about the Bible. There are a few texts in each lesson that they actually have to look up!

If you're interested in free samples, please call our office at 1-877-242-5317.

  2. Are all the lessons on the same sequence?

Primary and Kindergarten study the same story each week, and have the same memory verse. Juniors and Cradle Roll are on different cycles to meet the particular needs of their age groups.

  3. We're a small church, and we have classes combined. What do I do?

If Kindergarten and Primary are together, that actually works very well, because Kindergarten and Primary follow the same sequence. If Primary is studying the story of Daniel one week, Kindergarten has the same story, but more simplified. You can use one lesson or the other, or you can give the Primary lesson to the older children, and the Kindergarten to the younger.

If Cradle Roll and Kindergarten are together, then we recommend teaching the Kindergarten lesson (or dividing up for the Bible story time). Review the MV for both. Younger children love the stories even if they are "new."

Don't teach "over their heads," but don't be afraid to challenge them.

  4. Can I get a quarterly?

Cradle Roll comes as a bound quarterly. This makes it easier for the parents—one less thing for them to carry around on Sabbath!

Kindergarten, Primary, and Junior lessons come as individual handouts. Parents and teachers like this, because it keeps the price lower, and they can use the lessons however they want. They can be used as a weekly handout, or you can 3-hole-punch them and bind them in a 3-ring binder (and use as a quarterly). The margins are wide enough to punch them without cutting out any of the words or pictures. Quite a few parents and teachers have actually cut the lessons along the fold and inserted the lessons into vinyl sheet-protectors. They last a lot longer that way!

  5. How many come in a package?

Actually, you can order any quantity. You can order just one set, or fifty sets, or more!

Billing Questions

  1. Can you bill my church?

Yes. Just let us know the church address, or the treasurer's address. We'll send the invoice there, and ship to whatever address you specify.

  2. Do you give large-quantity discounts? When do the lessons go on sale?

Great question! Actually, the price is the same no matter how many you order. Since this is a ministry, we are happy to provide these materials at just a little above our cost. But to give discounts and sales like a commercial enterprise, we'd have to significantly raise the regular price, which would be unfair to small churches, families, and overseas missionaries.

Shipping Questions

  1. How do you ship?

We ship by United States Postal Service. You may use a P.O. Box for a shipping address.

Standing order placed late (after deadline): Your order will be shipped right away, and then placed on the standing order schedule (if that's what you want).

  4. I need my order by this Sabbath. Can you get it to me by then?

Standing Order Questions

  1. How far in advance do I have to order? How soon can I get my standing order started?

You can order anytime, even in the middle of a quarter. For instance, if you wanted to order the lessons for this current quarter, we would mail them to you right away. But if you already have a standing order, you can make changes or cancel at any time. If you can, you'd want to make changes at least 6 weeks in advance. That's when we ship the standing orders, so you'd want to get changes in by that time.

  2. Can I get a standing order?

Yes, you can get a standing order for your church or family.

  3. How many do I have to order?

You can order any quantity. You can order just one set, if that's all you need.

  4. Can you bill my church?

Yes, we can bill your church. We'll just need to know what you want to order, and which quarter & year you want to begin.

  5. How quickly can I make changes to my standing order?

You can make changes any time. You can add to your order at any time, even in the middle of the quarter. If you are reducing the quantity of your standing order, be sure to contact us by the standing order deadlines listed below. You can increase your order after the deadlines if you need to. The only extra cost will be a second shipping charge.

Current standing orders are shipped about 6 weeks before the new quarter. To be sure that your changes apply to the correct quarter, please observe the following standing order deadlines:

    May 8, 2014 for Quarter 3, 2014
    Aug 7, 2014 for Quarter 4, 2014
    Nov 6, 2014 for Quarter 1, 2015
    Feb 12, 2015 for Quarter 2, 2015

Additional materials ordered after the deadline will be sent in a second shipment. Call on time to avoid extra shipping cost! Reductions to standing orders will apply to the following quarter.

  6. It's after the deadline, and I want to start this coming quarter. What do I do?

Don't worry! We'll ship your order out right away, and place you on standing order for the coming quarters, if that's what you want.

  7. I'm on a standing order, and I haven't received my order yet. What do I do?

Call our office. Your account has probably not been paid yet. The most frequent cause of a missing standing order is an unpaid account. Standing orders are not shipped if the previous quarter's balance has not yet been paid. We'll ship as soon as we receive payment. If your account has been paid, and your order has been shipped, we'll check the tracking number (if available) and help you locate your package.
