The ministry of My Bible First began in the year 2000 when a small group of dedicated Sabbath school leaders in Wichita, Kansas began earnestly praying for the children in their local Seventh-day Adventist church. They especially felt the need for Bible lessons that would...

• effectively reach the children and their families.
• make each Sabbath school department a center of evangelism.
• give children a better understanding of Biblical history and a solid foundation of Biblical truth.
• help children understand the plan of salvation and the great controversy.
• assist families in establishing regular, vibrant, life-changing worships.
• make the Bible stories practical for every-day life.
• help their children know their loving, heavenly Father and devote their lives in service to Him.

God answered their prayers through Amy Sherrard, a godly woman in their church who was thoroughly committed to the Bible and Spirit of Prophecy. A missionary for many years, she helped begin the child evangelism work in what was then called the Far Eastern Division. She had extensive experience in working with children, and knew how to reach the heart of a child through her gift of writing. When asked to write Bible lessons, she agreed.

James and Jennifer Dietrich

This brother and sister duo have been an amazing addition to the My Bible First team. Jennifer started 20 years ago fresh out of college. Her brother James joined the business approximately 5 years later. Jennifer manages the office and does customer service. She also edits, designs, and creates new products. James manages the printing and all the technology. James is happily married to Sarah and they have three beautiful daughters. They enjoy hiking, camping, and gardening.

Phil and Sherry Mills

Sherry Mills is the daughter of Amy Sherrard. She and her husband Phil started printing the My Bible First lessons in their basement in Wichita, KS. When they relocated to first Georgia then Tennessee, the business moved with them. Under their care, My Bible First has outgrown their home and now has its own office and printing facilities! While ostensibly retiring in 2022, they remain actively involved. In their free time they enjoy spending time with their five grandchildren.

Rachel Nelson

Rachel Nelson is the granddaughter of Amy Sherrard. She took over My Bible First in January of 2022 after her parents, Phil and Sherry Mills, retired. Rachel is happily married and has two children. She works part time as a pediatric hospitalist. In her free time she likes white water kayaking.

Hildelisa Flickinger

Hildelisa joined our team in September 2022. Bringing a wealth of experience, she is fluent in both Spanish and English. Being a homeschooling mom and the mother of a daughter with special needs keeps her busy! Hildelisa is a registered dietician and has written nutrition curriculums for children. We are excited to have her on board!

Rebekah Daum

Rebekah Daum has worked in accounting for nonprofits and ministries since 2012 and enjoys this avenue of ministry. She is happily married to her husband David. She recently quit full time work and now works exclusively from home in order to raise their daughter. In her free time, she enjoys camping and hiking.
